DRIVER RESPONSIBILITY – TRANSPORTATION AND LOAD SECUREMENT
The driver is fully responsible for the installation, securement, and transportation of the ladder or any other equipment carried on the vehicle.
The information provided herein consists of general safety guidelines only. It does not constitute vehicle-specific load securement instructions and does not guarantee that any particular equipment, installation method, or securement method is suitable for your vehicle or the load being transported.
Before use, the driver must, among other things:
- Confirm with the vehicle manufacturer or dealership that the roof, anchoring points, and intended installation method are suitable for the load being transported.
- Comply with all load capacities and manufacturers’ instructions for the vehicle, crossbars, pads, straps, and any other accessories being used.
- Ensure that all crossbars, pads, straps, and anchoring points are properly installed, in good condition, and securely fastened before driving.
- Use a sufficient number of appropriate load securement devices based on the nature, dimensions, and weight of the load.
- Never use a strap or securement device that is damaged, cut, frayed, deformed, or showing signs of wear.
- Ensure that the load is adequately secured so that it cannot slide, tip, shift, detach, or fall during transportation.
- Check the securement before departure and as often as necessary during the trip, particularly after the first few kilometres or whenever driving conditions change.
- Ensure that the load does not interfere with driver visibility, vehicle control, signals, lighting, or the safety of other road users.
- Adjust speed, manoeuvres, and driving according to the dimensions and characteristics of the load and to road and weather conditions, particularly in strong winds.
- Comply at all times with all applicable laws, regulations, and requirements governing the vehicle, the load, and its securement.
